Chapter Text

"Hello? Anybody?" Y/n shouted out into the seemingly empty woods, knowing that there would be no reply. The crisp, frigid, air biting at her fingertips as she carefully made her way through the never ending trees, searching for a clearing which didn't exist. She winced as a low hanging branch brushed across the exposed and heavily bruised skin on her back. "PLEASE IM LOST, HELP!" Y/n cried out, tears forming as she silently sobbed, desperation eating her from the inside out.

What if nobody ever finds me..? At least not till I'm long gone, just a carcass laying in the woods, easy prey for the passing hungry predator..

Her silent sobs turning to audible ones, she paused, dropping to her knees. She buried her face in her hands, attempting to block out her surroundings as if she was no longer in those cold woods, filled with unknown creatures and harrowing noises. Y/n stayed there, curled up in a ball on the damp, moss covered ground for a long time. She didn't know how long, how could she be sure when her phone had been broken during the fall, and she had stupidly forgotten her watch at the car. Not that it would've mattered, as she doubted a cheap watch could survive such heights.

"I just wanted to have a fun camping trip, to get away from the busy 9 to 5 life I was so used to living" Y/n wailed to nobody in particular looking up, she watched as the last rays of light from the sun receded, leaving her in the darkness which she would soon wish to return to. The darkness that would soon seem so warm and so sweet, like a childhood memory of flowers and candy, of warm blankets and movie theatre popcorn. If only She had given up then, stayed where she was like the pamphlets she never bothered to read advised, stayed and waited for rescue. Even if help didn't arrive, death might have been a better fate than what was to come, but of course Y/n didn't give up, she wiped her stinging puffy eyes of her tears, whispering positive things, motivating herself to keep moving.

Y/n let out a long breathe of air, closing her eyes. "It's okay, surely I'll come across somebody soon".

After a few more deep breaths she picked herself up and trudged through the forest, arms wrapped around herself, attempting to keep her body warmth in as the temperatures dropped rapidly. It was starting to get really dark and the creaking moans and wails of swinging tree branches and whatever foul creatures who found themselves living in the forest didn't help. The longer she walked, the more her legs ached, her pace gradually slowing. Half an hour had passed and it was almost pitch black, Y/n wasn't sure whether she was afraid of the possible entities prowling within or the idea of being abandoned out there, perhaps both.

Her eyes began to fall, vision blurring slightly. She was far too tired to continue walking but who knew what dangers could be stalking her, silently watching there prey as it scrambled about. Y/n couldn't let herself fall asleep, much less pass out. She shook her head and lightly slapped herself on the cheeks with both hands, and taking another deep breathe she continued.

She quickly spun around as she heard what sounded like an owls cry, but could easily be any other somewhat sentient creature, luring her in. "Just keep going" she murmured as she continued through the forest, but she couldn't help but start to lose hope as she walked further and further into her unchanging surroundings. She let out a cry of frustration, kicking a small branch as far as she could, admittedly not very far, especially after being worn down so much. In another small fit of anger she picked up the branch, and with all her remaining strength chucked it into the woods.

A dim light flickered on and off, illuminating the edges of what seemed to be a deck, and.. a house? It must've been motion censored, not that Y/n cared. In her excitement, running towards the house, she forgot to think. She forgot to think about how strange it was that there was a random cabin in the midst of the thick foliage. As Y/n neared, stumbling on her own feet, the light flickered on once more. The battery, clearly not having been changed in a while. And in her rush of adrenaline and hope, she didn't knock on the door, nor did she notice the strange dark red stains soaked into the hardwood floor she stood upon. She paused trying to catch her breathe and looked around, although there wasn't anything to look at since the room was pitch black. Y/n fumbled around, hands blindly searching the walls for a light switch and when she found none she realized the light was on the ceiling.

A bit old fashioned, She thought to herself as the small chain smacked her in the forehead. She tugged on it lightly, and when it elicited no response, she gave it another tug, harsher then before. The light gave in, not wanting to be pulled on and strained, and it revealed an average living room sized room. As she turned around taking in her surroundings she made note of the fact that somebody had definitely been living there. The floor was a dark stained oak wood and there was a tacky green and brown carpet covering the majority of the floor, probably coming with the house as she couldn't imagine who would actually purchase that for themselves. The more Y/n looked the more she realized that most of the furniture was matching, like the dusty brown couch and the wooden coffee table, twinning with the floor. Either the person living there was very picky and had bad taste, an option she immediately ruled out noticing the mugs with dried coffee dripping down the sides and the various newspapers and books sprawled out on the floor. Or the person hadn't bothered or cared enough to change the crappy, low quality, furniture that the cabin provided.

Y/n knew it wasn't smart, she understood you shouldn't just fall asleep in a strangers house, but she was tired, and she was hurt. Her back ached and her limbs popped at the slightest of movements, sore from the days journey. She plopped herself down on the dirty couch, cursing as she swore a spider had crawled over her, but she gave in resting her head on the pillow as she succumbed to the exhaustion aching in every fiber of her being.

Y/n fell asleep.

The singular ceiling light in the center of the room buzzed, a low quiet hum like white noise, soothing Y/n as she woke up. She was still too tired, unsure of what time she had even conked out, she kept her eyes closed, shifting, burying her face in the grimy and scratchy pillow. Muffled by the fabric her face was pressed against she heaved a soft sigh, adjusting her position and letting a leg drop off the side of the couch. Being so tired and cranky, Y/n failed to remember she was in a strangers house. Overcome by the constant desire to fall back asleep she buried her head deeper into the pillow.

Bright rays of sunshine poured through the clouded windows and Y/n swore she could hear a slight creaking. She ignored it, drifting in and out of sleep.

There was a humming, but not the familiar humming of the lightbulb, or the humming of her phone alarm that she usually woke up to. It was more human, and along with the humming were footsteps. She bolted up, turning around to find herself facing the backside of a man. He was tall, and while looking on the skinnier side he also appeared to be quite toned. His skin was un-naturally pale but Y/n didn't think much of it, what she did notice though was his mangled black hair, dropping a little longer then shoulder length, messy curls in all different directions. A classic case of bedhead, but if the unruly hair had been a surprise to her, what she saw next was even worse.

"Oh hey your up, I was waiting. you slept a while for somebody in another persons house" His laugh wasn't that of a sane human, not one of a person making casual small talk to a stranger. He turned around and she jumped in horror, hands rising to her face, covering her mouth. Wide-eyed she stuttered, trying to say something, but lacking the words to do so. He had incisions coming from the tips of both ends of his mouth, extending it into a permanent smile. His eyes however, relaxed into that of a person who was wearing a smug grin.

Jeff sighed, rolling his eyes in a 'playful' manor. "Didn't anybody teach you its rude to stare" Y/n caught her breath, mind racing a mile a minute. Maybe she didn't really need to know, she could just ask for directions and leave quickly. He smiled down at her, well it wasn't like he could stop smiling anyways, but his eyes were smiling mischievously, a better way of putting it would be psychotically. Maybe she could just leave, find her way back in the light of day, it couldn't be that hard..

"W-well" She stumbled over her words, looking away from the looming figure before her. "Sorry for uh entering your house, I-It was just dark and I was tired and lost, but I'll go nowbyeandthanks" Talking faster as she neared the end of the sentence, she quickly stood up turning towards the door when Jeff leaned against it, an arm on the tacky grandmother print wallpaper blocking her path. "Not so fast sweetheart, who said you could leave?"

Y/n's heart began to beat faster, and she was unable to tell whether it was from fear, pure adrenaline, or from the way his eyes looked at her, slowly tracing the figure of her body. She wasn't sure if she wanted to find out.
